Property Description

Now in its 11th year, the White House a family run friendly B&B is ideally located in the heart of the wonderful tranquil old quarter of Kalkan - just a few minutes walk to the harbour and town beach.

10 ensuite air conditioned rooms some with balconies and seaviews. The rooms are comfortable, bright, airy and clean. Double, twin and family rooms. Whether you are a single traveller or a group, wanting a night or a couple of weeks you are always welcome. You can arrive anytime or any day. Check in is 1300 and check out noon. If you need an airport transfer or car hire this can also be arranged. Discount for children and single occupancy.

The terrace is the highlight of the White House and enjoys stunning views across the harbour and bay of Kalkan. Its hard to leave this ever changing panoramic scene from first thing in the morning when a traditional Turkish breakfast is served, a pre-dinner drink watccing the sun slowly setting with atmospheric music playing in the background, to last thing at night when you can gaze at the glittering stars. There is always something to watch.

Area description

Kalkan is set in the foothills of the rugged Taurus Mountains on Turkey's Turquoise coast. If you want to stay in a village of whitewashed houses, shuttered windows and balconies draped in brillantly covered bougainvillaea, winding cobbled streets lined with colourful local shops, cafes, restaurants, leading down to the pretty harbour, then Kalkan is for you.

You can spend the day swimming and sunbathing at the pebbly town beach, take lunch from one of the many restaurants close by or spend your time at one of many beach clubs dotted around the bay, which you can walk to or take a short boat trip. You can spend a leisurely day at sea on daily boat trips which take you around the various bays - great swimming and great food either join others or take a private charter. Various water sports are also available as well as canoeing and horse riding at Patara.

The local dolmus can take to you to nearby Kaputas (10 mins) a spectacular beach at the foot of a ravine which is reached by walking down 180 steps. Patara is a 20 minute drive away. 16 km of sandy beach and crystal clear waters, its a conservation area, protecting the nesting loggerhead turtles and no development is allowed around it. There are also ruins behind the beach and every year more and more is being discovered here and recently what may be the oldest lighthouse in the world. There are ongoing digs here and many more discoveries to be found.

Kalkan is an ideal location for visiting many of the historical sites close by, Kekova, Letoon, Tlos, Xanthos and Pinara just a few to mention. It is also a base for walking holidays or a stop off point for the Lycian Way.

There are many restaurants to suit all budgets. at the harbour, roof tops or in the village. There are a few bars where you can either people watch or join in the dancing.

Kalkan has something special for everybody whether you want a lazy relaxing holiday, making many new friends, or visiting places of interest nearby.
