bellamonte hotel or sevgi hotel?
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:57:49 AM »
Good morning,

on august I will be in Kalkan with a couple of friends. Our first time there.
We are looking for a good, but not too expensive, hotel.
We are intersted in Bellamonte hotel and Sevgi hotel:the first seems to have better rooms and pool, the second seems to have a better location, near to town center and beaches.

Now, could everybody help us to understand if the location of Bellamonte is good or it's far from the center and hard to rech it?
And someone ever stayed at Bellamonte or Sevgi for a "true" opinion?
Note that our friends have a little baby, and the accomodation is extremely important for them!

Pls help us!!  :-[
Francesca

I haven't stayed there but have visited the Bellamonte restaurant/bar a couple of times and been given a tour. It is run by a very friendly Turkish family and serves excellent home cooked Turkish food.

The rooms are quite small and simply furnished (like many of the hotels in Kalkan) but very clean.

The location is slightly out of town, 10min downhill walk in  but a stiff uphill walk back (about £3 back in a taxi).  On the plus side it is a quiet location and has great views over the centre of Kalkan bay.

Ok, thank you!
I guess that we'll choose the Sevgi, the location seems better to reach the town by walk.

I discovered yhe Kleo pension too, looks small but lovely and very central...

Kleo Pension and Kleo bar are not in the same building.   Kleo Pension is tucked down a side street close by Alternatif restaurant and Kleo bar is at the end of the harbour just before the beach.

We stayed at Kleo Pension a few years ago before buying in Kalkan and found it a wonderful position.     So central and no long walks after an evening meal or a morning pottering around Kalkan.    No pool but lovely view from the rooftop and from the tiny balcony we had.  It was amazingly quiet then despite being so close to everything.    Could have changed now and someone else will probably come along with a more recent experience.

The rooms were simple but a good size with a seating area.   Also a large frig.   Close to the mosque so you hear the call to prayer but that is all part of the Kalkan experience.
In fact if we didn't have our own place we would probably still go to Kleo, such bliss to be able to walk out of a restaurant and be in your room in one or two minutes.

Kleo Pension closed for a while after Tapestry closed but I see it has reopened and has its own website.    I hope they do well.

Thank you Tortoise, we'll consider your opinion.

Actually, the fact is that we'll be travelling with a 7 months baby, and it would be pretty important that the accomodation is in a quiet location, because probably she and her parents will stay thare a long time in the day. :P

That's why the Sevgi with the pool is a good option, although we and our friends have always chosen pensions like Kleo in our trips all over the world...

Dears,

about the Kleo Pension again: I read that a late noise club called Ignite opened just next door to hotel Zinbad.

Now, it seems that Zinbad is really close to Kleo pension...does anybody know if they are really so close? And the Ignite club is still open (and noisy)?

I hope someone out there knows the answer to how noise from the new club will affect Kleo.  I am not out in Kalkan at the moment so cannot personally check.  It will be a great pity if Kleo pension, fairly newly reopened, was to be disturbed by noise.    It is in such a fantastic position in Kalkan and I was so amazed when we stayed there a few years ago just how quiet it was possible to be tucked down that little side street.
