Beware of rental requests from a David Francis
« on: July 24, 2010, 11:34:25 AM »
As reported on KTLN, this guy is a scam. (Not sure how to attach the link to KTLN but please read)

We have now received two requests for rental and you could be fooled into parting with money.

We've received two requests from him too, despite me saying we weren't renting over the winter months.  He was particularly persistent, so I'm ignoring it now

Yes, definitely ignore. It looks like it is a Nigerian scam. Read report on KTLN>

We too, for exactly the same period 1/11-30/11. He must be cloning himself constantly!

I have to find the article as I  don't understand either how he would get money out of us. If we rent out we should get money from renters...

The majority of these scams work by the potential renter offering to pay with a cheque for more than the rental amount and asking the owner to pay back the surplus amount.  The cheque then bounces.

How anybody would give any money back before the cheque clears is beyond me....durrhh!!  I'm tempted to ring that US telephone number later...if I get time - I will and I will give this guy a piece of my mind..assuming it is a kosher number of course...  >:( >:(

Hello there. I can not believe some of the horrible things you are saying about me. You are hurting me!! I would really love to come and visit your most beautiful and wonderful apartments.

As much as I love living in sunny Lagos Florida, Kalkan truely looks like the oasis on the middle of the dessert.

My wife Abebe is so upset and is crying herself to sleep everynight.

I am more forgiving and would like to offer any of you most kind Kalkan Lovers the opportunity to stay in my Florida condominium.

All you have to do is send me is your holiday dates, your bank account details and your mother's maiden name.

I look forward to meeting you soon,

David Francis

OK - David Francis - if you are REALLY such a kosher potential renter - how come you are e-mailing every single villa and apartment in Kalkan - you cannot possibly stay in them all....AND added to which I received yesterday the following e-mail from Beautifulholidayvillas.com which is YOUR e-mail address (sorry but you just DON'T stack up!!):

  • Dear Valued Client,

We write to keep you well informed of a new scam that is being discoveredthroughout many web based industries. This is not a crazy "Worm" or"Trojan" but a so far rather obvious attempt to have us pay out moneyor give out bank account details.

We have experience of web address micpaulvilla1100@ymailthat initially asks for available rental dates and prices and then offers topay by cheque-normally with an overpayment-and then requests a refund-often viayour bank account. The scammer would then, of course, cancel any cheque issued, leaving the unsuspected client wit! h a loss and their bank accountcompromised.

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL BANK DETAILS TO ANYONE!
We at Beautiful Holiday Villas accept payments only by Paypal.

Paypal offers a very simple set up, is, in our opinion, very safe andcompletely negates any payment problems of this nature. We would stronglysuggest that you protect yourself with an arrangement such as ours.

Our system tracks all enquiries and we are constantly upgrading our security, but this latest scam uses a very simple technique, and though easily detected, can be problematic for some. Please be vigilant and keep you personal detailssafe.

Can we suggest that you also let your friends know of this latest scam.

Please feel free to contact us at any time.

    Good luck with your investment!

    Best regards,

From the Customer Service Team at Beautiful Holiday Villas

After reading "Mr Francis" posting - I am assuming that I have either wondered into a parallel universe - or somehow have fast forward to April 1st 2011!

Felicity

I need many apartments for my other wives.

I realise fraud is a serious matter but I think you must be having a blonde day! Isis however is not.

Oh I forgot to say on my last post. If anyone wishes to stay at my condominium, I also take all credit & debit cards (dont forget to send me the security number on the back of your card)

Much love

David Francis
