Spicy bulgar pilaf
« on: May 08, 2013, 12:37:38 PM »
Hi all,

Has anyone got the recipe for the spicy bulgar pilaf (or similar) to the one served at Hunkar? I'm attempting to make it for dinner tonight with lamb kofte, ezme, cacik, flatbread and spicy beetroot, yum yum!!

If I can't get to Kalkan until August, then Kalkan can come to me!!  :)

Have you tried asking Turaç from Hunkar's? He's on Whatsapp or they have their own Facebook page now.
Otherwise try:
http://www.spicelines.com/2010/11/recipe_spicy_bulgur_pilaf_with.htm
looks similar.

The Soup Kitchen won't divulge the recipe for their spicy lentil soup....so perhaps Turac may be of a similar ilk. Love the website, BL, BH has worn his Turkish cookbook out so he can access a million more now ;D
Bob.....how on earth did you do that? :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Took out an unused pack of Bulgar Wheat this afternoon and there were several somethings running around inside it!!! Only bought it last October, somewhere in the village and it had plenty of time until it's end of life.
I dont mind the extra protein but, it's trying to get them to stay in the pan.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to
Their - belongs to them.                     Too - In addition, Also
They're - Short for they are.

Pedant! me?

Oh heck BubblesG, think you need to bin the bulgar!!! I think I'd have had a girlie hissy fit if I'd have had critters coming out of my packet!!
I made the spicy bulgar from a combination of BL and B&J' s links and while it wasn't as succulent looking as Bob's giant pic, it was really really good, I made enough to feed just about all the members on EK, so have enjoyed it today as well as last night and enough for tomorrow too!!  ;D
Turac has also said that if we go early to hunkar, we can have a cookery lesson on how to make it!
