baby stuff
« on: August 15, 2009, 07:36:42 PM »
Hi all
wondered if anyone could advise me about availabilty of baby foods/milk/nappies etc as we are coming to kalkan for a month and don't want to carry it all!  have heard of a company that will deliver everything but would rather support local area of poss.
we are hoping to be able to get hold of aptamil milk, plum/ellas kitchen/hipp organic baby food and pampers or huggies nappies.  would be grateful if anyone has any tips on travelling with a young baby to kalkan as it is his first trip abroad!  thanks

All the local supermarkets stock Baby items but they may not be the same brands or names that you are familiar with. You may have to bring some items with you if your child is a fussy eater or has special dietary needs.

I noticed that the Yali supermarket had swim nappies this year, which I haven't seen before in Kalkan.

I think you will find quite a few baby products in the supermarkets that you are familiar with. But to take the stress of worrying if you will find what you need you could try contacting Jo at Kalkan Concierge - not only does she supply catering/bbqs and hire out baby equipment but she is also able to source a lot of baby/child and other products that you might not be able to quite so easily, because of the language difficulties. Sometimes they are the same products but under a different name for Turkish market.

There will be a small charge but it's worth it when you're on holiday to have the hassle taken away and the goods delivered to your door awaiting your arrival.

I'm sure it will all work out fine. Have a great holiday

That's really helpful, Rosie - thanks!  It sounds like the perfect solution for us as we would rather spend the money locally as I said.  You have also jogged my memory about baby equipment since i haven't enquired as to whether the villa has a high chair - a bit of an essential!
Thanks a jl...am sure we'll have a brilliant time

You can get aptamil milk and Milupa jars but they do not have a great range of the jars.
You can get both huggies and pampers but the pampers are called prima out here.
