Just wondered if anyone can help.Going to Kalkan in August and have booked with The Turquoise Collection and have paid by cheque as they wanted to charge me £90 to pay on my Debit or Credit card. They have informed me that they are not ATOL protected and i want to get my holiday insurance that will include me getting my money back if the company fall on hard times.Does anybody know of a company that will do this as so far i have drawn a blank, thanks

I don't know whether they cover that particular issue, but www.Goodtogoinsurance.com seem to offer a very good variety of covers which others don't.  Might be worth a look. They have been excellent with all my health stuff and I've had no trouble with them. SX :) :)

Neil and Denise, I don't think this would be covered by regular travel insurance as that's what ATOL is in place for :( I suggest you contact a broker who will find you the best deal in terms of cover and price, but I would hazard a guess this won't come cheap. Have you booked everything with them or just accomodation? I've often looked at their properties, but your experience has certainly put me off
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

maybe it would have been better to have paid on credit card as the £90 fee they wanted to charge  would be cheaper than
trying to include cover in your holiday insurance.  when kibris (cyprus turkish airline) went bust a couple of years ago we were fully refunded by our card company even though it was a debit card. it seems that visa debit card will still pay out. probably to late for this to have been any good for you as you have already paid

In hindsight that would have been the best idea, then again i think it is so wrong to get charged on your debit card to the tune of £90 when it can be spent on better things,No one to blame but myself though, will know better next time

Hi Neil and Denise gosh what a dilemma, am very surprised a company like that are not ATOL protected, I have just done my insurance through comparethemarket and some of the quotes where including protection if airline goes under and were not that expensive, not sure how that would cover your accomodation etc but may be worth a look, hope you get sorted. Are they not ABTA registered either?
