new alcohol laws.
« on: July 02, 2013, 09:11:22 PM »
Hi all, just curious have they brought into force yet the new alcohol ban in garages and ten pm rule for supermarkets? I know some of the changes don't come into effect until september but not sure which ones.

Clara, we could buy alcohol from shops in Kalkan after 10pm but we couldn't get a beer on the petrol station stop on the way to the airport. Seems there's confusion about the regulations and I'm sure once it starts to affect the tourist business there will be some powerful figures lobbying for amendments.....we'll see what happens ::)
Not long till you'll be there telling us what the current situation is....lucky you :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks Kalkan4eva, I agree it undoubtedly will have some affect on local bussiness'. Seems a lifetime since we booked our holiday months and months away but as always seems to happen the last couple of weeks seem to fly by and there's a mad rush with last minute Kalkan clobber shopping. Have recently had a bit of a holiday crisis the fantastic kennels we board our Cairn Angus at has decided to close down a week before we go,  we booked it as soon as we booked the hols so we were panicstricken whether we'd find a suitable place for him at short notice  and it being bank holiday. Thankfully we managed to get the last space at a really good local kennels, only worry is he was really at home at the last place as they spoilt him rotten. Well can't be helped and they said they'd keep us informed bt text, so we'll try not to fret and just enjoy lovely Kalkan  8) Oops, sorry moderator, gone off topic, afraid rambling on is in the blood !
