Buying from Ikea
« on: November 03, 2008, 09:34:18 PM »
I know Ikea has been mentioned before, but not for a while (I have done a search) the nearest one to Kalkan as I believe is in Izmir, I know we can order on line we already have our shopping list, my question, does anyone have experience of ordering on line and what are the delivery costs? Thanks H.

Wish it was! . . . .but according to Ikea''s web site there are 2 in Istanbul, 1 in Izmir and 1 opening soon Bursa. So? . . . . Izmir seems to be the option.  ::)

Ok- I''m sure my friend Baris at the Hotel Nur said he got a lot of stuff from IKEA in Antalya, but I may have got it wrong!

The one in Antalya, is not a "store", but has limited stocks and can obtain things for you from the main Ikeas.
We chose from the Ikea catalogue at the NEED shop at the start of the Kalamar Road, they ordered and collected it for us for a small charge.

Delivery costs start at around 85 TL for up to half a cubic metre of goods. The next cost up is 150 TL for up to 1 cubic metre.
If you e mail the Izmir store you will find them very helpful, they also have English speaking staff which may be of help.

There is also a company in Fethiye - J&J who will order for you - there is a small commission +  transport costs. They also can order from Koc Tas [ which is B&Q in Turkey]
They also run day trips to IKEA in Izmir and last year a trip which stays overnight in Izmir

the easy thing to do is to go to an Ikea store in the UK to look at what you are after, then check the ikea.tr site to see if they stock it in turkey, and order direct.
