Mirror
« on: June 05, 2012, 04:47:45 PM »
We are looking to purchase a full length mirror preferably local to Kalkan/Kas, does anyone know where we may be able to buy this?  Would be grateful if anyone could help in providing us with a shop name/location.
Many thanks

Do you want it in a frame or just to have polished edges and to go straight on the wall?

We bought a mirror which was cut to size and had the edges polished from the double glazing/glass company on the Akbel Road and we fitted it to the wall with mirror clips that we brought from home.  I'm in glass/double glazing so could sell you some mirror clips if you like!!  :-*  ;D
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

I had a mirror from the same place as Turkeyfan and just stuck it to the wall with the 'stronger than nails' stuff - perfect...it was about 30tl as I recall for a full length mirror.

There is also a picture framing shop, near Migros in Kas. They will make any size, usually the same day.
They were much cheaper than the quote we had from the shop just mentioned on the Akbel Road. They wanted 175lira for a belvelled edged full length mirror back in January. The shop in Kas was about 40lira, with a light wooden frame.

We also used a small glazing shop in Kas, just up from the Migros Shop opposite the entrance to the bus station. Excellent service, we gave him the dimensions for a full length mirror just before lunch, chose a frame and he insistedon delivering it to Kisla later that evening. All for about half the price you would pay in Kalkan. I am also certain that he does picture hooks. If not the DIY shop beside Migros is almost certain to do something that would suffice.

Thankyou everyone for the information suggesting shops of where to puchase a mirror.
Turkeyfan- i do not feel confident enough to fix/drill the 'slidy' mirror clips, but thankyou for the information.(mirror clips may have 'moved' on, but i recall you had to slide the top fixing, or at least something like that, beyond my DIY skills.

No mirror clips haven't moved on!!

The only thing I would say, is although Felicity has used 'No Nails', I don't think it is recommended for mirrors as it takes the mirror coating of the rear of the mirror, which will make the mirror mottled and patchy over time.  You can get special mirror adhesive which is better and you would probably be able to get some in B&Q.

The mirror and DIY shops in Kas have gone from next to Migros. Kipa are having that corner re-developed as one of their express stores.
There - over there, there are.            To - Going to

You can picture framing done at the Sarpendon (sp) gallery below the Pirat.  Maybe you could buy a mirror from the glass shop and have it framed?

I've just remembered that we had wrought ironed framed wall mirrors made to size a few years ago from Zeki's on Kalamar Rd.

Hi, 2 years ago we bought 2 full length mirrors with a black wrought iron surround from a shop in Kalkan at 150 TL each. The shop has now relocated to the precinct by Yali Supermarket.  Great mirrors at a fantastic price - stunning and just what we wanted.  Just supply relevant tools i.e. spirit level, etc, as they screw them to the wall for you but with no spirit level they can end up on the screw-iff (spell check not available lol).

The shop just opposite the entrance to the bus station in Kas was still there two weeks ago. I think it is the same people who used to run the one next to Migros.
