Hello & a question !
« on: April 12, 2011, 10:19:46 AM »
Hello. I found this forum via a link from Tripadvisor the other day and  browsing through the topics I have unearthed a lot of useful information, so thanks to one and all !

We are first timers to Kalkan and Turkey and fly out on Easter Monday from Luton for a week, staying at a local B&B in the village

Yesterday, I was window shopping in the local Shopping Mall for holiday clothes and it occurred to me that it may be better value to buy clothes when I get to Kalkan, e.g. summery tops, loose fitting cotton trousers etc

does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations ?

You can get some lovely clothes in Kalkan but, in my opinion, they are mostly more suitable for going out in the evening.  I wouldn't rely on the market and suggest you buy your bikinis in the UK and Primark is very good for inexpensive loose trousers.  Oh, and don't forget, heels are out, you'll need nonslip sandals.  At this time of the year, you'll need a coverup in the evening.  Needless to say, there are cheap pashminas in abundance here.

I am sure you will have a wonderful holiday.

Thanks for the replies. It has helped heaps. The local Primark has got all the summer stuff in so that's where I'll be headed during my lunchbreaks !

There are a variety of clothes shops in Kalkan selling great clothes such as t-shirts,dresses,kaftans,cotton and linen skirts and trousers, shorts etc.
Most of the clothes are made in Turkey, so are good quality and at reasonable prices. Also, once you get back to England not everyone else is wearing the same!
Kalkan,Kas and Fethiye markets all sell various 'designer' items too.
There are also great jewellery shops and handbag shops too!!
There is something for everyone,I can always find something I like!
