Kalkan Newbies
« on: February 27, 2012, 01:50:43 AM »
Hi everyone. I am going to book a 1 or 2 bed apartment for 2 weeks from 23rd July 2012. I have never been to Kalkan before but I have been to Icmeler a few times. I am a bit bored of Icmeler and want to see what Kalkan has to offer. I've only read good things about Kalkan which has made me want to book a holiday here. I want a central apartment, preferably in a complex with a shared pool and bar because its nice to meet and chat with other people. My main concern is entertaining my daughter who will be almost 16. If she is happy then so am I. She likes modern music not too loud in the daytime but at night something more lively. Does anyone have any advice on apartments and bars please?  :)

Hi,

I think you will find Kalkan is a lot quiter than Icmeler, There is no Michael Jackson acts etc., We used to go to Icmeler for some years but like you got fed up but then we are  older and now want  different type of holiday,

I am sure others will put you wise on any lively bar and  apartments to suit you as we always go in a hotel,

We love Kalkan because it is not like Icmeler but then others may find it too quiet. Well that is my opinion Still until you take the plunge for a different resort you will  never know!!!

Hi Bantu
We have always stayed centrally in apartments, Truffle, Korsan, HannInn, Mediterranean....they all have shared pools.
With the exception of our last holiday we have also always travelled with teenage girls. Kalkan is a great place for teenagers, and in our opinion very safe. There are a few bars with music at night which teenagers go to....can't say which would be the most popular this year. Kalamar Beach club is also a good place for teenagers and would be a good spot for your daughter to make friends if she is going alone. Admittedly we have always had both our daughters or my younger daughter has taken a friend, but they both love Kalkan....so much so that this summer they are both coming with us again!

Hi Bantu
We often have our teenagers lads with us, last year Moijto (spelling?) and Chocolate were apparently popular 'music bars/clubs'. I also second the recommendation for Kalamar Bay beach club, if you go by taxi the club will (well they have always in the past) pay the taxi and give you a lift home, there is a small charge to use the beach club.

please remember to post on here after you get back so others can learn from your experiences.
I have a very responsible position...

Welcome to the forum, Bantu.
I don't know of many self-catering complexes near the centre of Kalkan that have a bar as well as a shared pool except Pasha Aparthotel which is situated along the Kalamar Road. If you look on the Turquoise Collection website they also have the very thing you are looking for but they are a bit further out of town and, IMO, a bit pricey. Same thing goes for Levanta but they are a LOT further away. Somewhere like Med Apartments (see owners direct website for these) or Emir (try holiday lettings site for these) are very central and slightly bigger complexes so you will meet other people but they don't have a bar. Try Pasha but they had a mention in the Sunday Times fairly recently so it may be harder to get in there - Mark and Imelda are a lovely couple and the place is really nice and reasonable prices www.pasha-apartments.co.uk
Good luck

Could also try The Samira in town, they also have apartments, a shared pool, bar, table tennis and other stuff to keep them busy

oops...sorry, missed that you wanted a shared pool and a bar.....the Korsan Apartments have both though, but not the other complexes I mentioned.

Thank you so much everyone. I am going to look at all the places you've mentioned. And it will be nice to get away from tribute acts and constant pestering to shop, drink or eat  ;D I will keep you posted on any questions and decisions I make. What I did notice was the return transfers from Dalaman are not as cheap as ive had to Icmeler but I guess £55 one way is the going rate? I'm so glad I found this forum. Thanks again  :)

The Nur hotel is very central and there is block of private apartments behind that are under same hotel management - the bar there is great for meeting people and they often have music nights too. Some of the apartments are here:

Doh...Nur and Samira, how could I forget about them :o. Samira is the closest for your dodgy achilles but make sure the apartments are not based at Samira Deluxe which is way out of town.

IMO the Samira would be a better choice for a teenager as it attracts families more so than some of the other apartments mentioned and therefore a greater chance that your daughter will meet up with others her own age. There's always plenty going on around the pool during the day also.

Looking forward to hearing where you book.   Like Charlie I think Samira could be a good choice for you.   It was the first place we stayed in Kalkan, in one of the apartments, and although we were wanting to be very quiet so didn't socialise we did discover it was in a brilliant position so close to everything.

Have a wonderful holiday and tell us all about it afterwards.
