Ah, if only I knew where I was "from" ...  half my life spent abroad.  Born in Minnesota, grew up in Arizona, Pennsylvania, California, married in New York, had babies in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Accra, Ghana. Matured in Rome, Italy for 15 years, ripened in southern France, aged in Boston, retired in Turkey.  In between spent lots of time in Morocco.  So where am I from?  Minnesota?  USA?  Never know how to answer this question!

Settled here, Charlie, because when we drove along the coast from Antalya to Izmir in 1990, my husband-to-be and I fell in love with Kalkan which reminded me of a small coastal town in northern Morocco where I had spent 13 entire summers plus some odd months.  My husband proposed to me at the terrace bar of the old Pirat hotel, but it wasn''t until 1995 that we returned and bought a timeshare in Club Patara.  Subsequently built a house here.  But my first love is perhaps still Italy.  Why we didn''t buy there is a bit more complicated.

Born in Manchester, schooled in Westhoughton (nr Bolton), then moved to work and live in Bolton and Radcliffe (near Bury).
Then met MrB and gave up the glamorous Lancashire lifestyle to live in sunny Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Plenty in geographical common with joanH and janeywhit, not quite so geographically exciting as Cosetta!

Well, I''m originally from Liverpool, but now adopted Welsh - you''re not alone Honey! My Better Half is Welsh and we bought some land and built our house in a village called Hawarden (famous for William Gladstone and Michael Owen). We had planned to build again on the Isle of Anglesey, but Kalkan looks like a far better place to retire... ;D
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

As my name suggests, Chorley, a town in Lancashire, quite central, about 9 miles from Bolton, Wigan, Preston and Blackburn.
For the Welsh, yes, Wales is great, I always go there for hols, staying in Rowen a lovely little village near Conwy on Sept 29th for a week in a fantastic farm cottage, great location, but as already commented on, pity about the weather, but I recall sunning myself on Harlech beach October 2005! And what a view that is from the viewpoint adjacent to the imposing castle there.
Cardigan Bay is stunning as mentioned previously, we were in another farm cottage in Aberystwyth in June, great place. Sorry, sounds like an advertisement for Wales here!! ;D
