It sure does show something....maybe us southern softies simply can''t afford to buy or holiday in Kalkan or else the weather is worse up north so you guys need your fair share of sunshine...mind you - after this summer I think that applies to even us southern softies..... :o  Whatever the reasons...it is very interesting....so if we want a Kalkan re-united gathering in the UK...does that mean me venturing north of the ''gap'' :o :o :o :o

Hey....we are even further up North near ''Pink Panther'' country (Durum..durum..durum.durum..durum etc..) Durham!  So..yes this summer weather drives us back to Kalkan whenever possible and not long to go now guys..2 weeks today.  Planning starts this weekend...what to take, we have a wedding present for one of our turkish friends to sort, it''s hubbies birthday while we are there, our wedding anniversary, my brother''d b''day, sisters b''day and my fathers 80th the evening before we go!!  We are booked into Lumley Castle, so if any of you guys fancy a visit to this region, this castle is fantastic as a venue.  Next to a golf course, fab rooms, great restaurant and near Durham, Newcastle and the Metrocentre.  Hopefully we won''t be too hungover the next day for travelling!

Born in London, lived in Singapore, The Phillipines. Indonesia, Hong Kong and Australia. Put deposit on house in rural France on a Saturday, came to Kalkan for first time (1999) on the Sunday and bought apartments here on the Wednesday.  Cancelled purchase of  French house (no regrets).
Started to build a house out of the village in 2001, completed in 2002. Now look down at all the new development in amazement but we are still surrounded by olive groves and pasture land and our sea views are completely uninterrupted.

Have sold our UK home and plan to be here  until we are too old to climb the hills - hopefully another 20 years.

Just be warned Felicity - it is true - we all wear flat caps and talk funny.  It permanently rains here and when we go out of a night we don''t wear coats - unless its reeeally snowing! ;D

Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Lantana, our first idea was also France or Italy but somehow it got switched to Kalkan!  Maybe because at the time we did not have the liquid funds to purchase the apt we wanted in Vence, couldn''t decide where we wanted to live in Italy, and we had only enough money for this land and to start building a house here.  I still wouldn''t mind having a little something, even shared, somewhere in France or Italy.

Are you up near Peter and Joanie on the Berzigan road?

There are lots of Irish here apparently, our neighbors are Irish but they don''t come often and keep to themselves.  There is another Irish family who bought a villa from Samira Deluxe, and I''m told there are several more.  Of course, if I can refer back to my great-grandparents, then I''m one of them too!
