IPTV?

Does anyone still have British IPTV? We are told that the master provider absconded with the subscription money and the service was shut off. Ours is gone. Yours?

Hi Cosetta, sorry no experience of iptv provider out here, but a cheap way forward is an mx2 box from the UK running xbmc. About £70 to buy and that's it. No monthly subscriptions.

Well not so much a house as someone in the UK to buy the box and bring it out. Happy to oblige if needed. It just connects to your wifi and TV. Nothing needed back in the UK. TV available via filmon and various other sources.

This sounds interesting but presumably would require unlimited internet?

Yes that's right headroom. Streaming TV gobbles up the data. There are plenty of the links to the boxes on eBay. I use one in the UK and it's brilliant for films, boxed sets etc.

I do have a set-top box (Uhost2) that connects to the back of our TV and takes me onto the internet.  Can watch filmon with that but sometimes the streaming is broken up.  I also have the Mag 250 box that I bought with IPTV last year, now no IPTV for the moment as some local sub-contractors didn't pay the master supplier, instead, absconded with everyone's money and then the service was cut off.

Also discovered why TTNET ADSL sometimes drops from 13 or 14 Mbps to 3 as someone complained.  If your contract is the unlimited 50G type, it means you have unlimited downloads but after downloading 50 GB in one month, they slow your service to 3Mbps until the beginning of the next billing period, then raise it back to 13-14.  They call it 'fair usage at high speed'.  After I downloaded 76 GB this month, they set my speed down and sent me a message.  However, by upgrading for a very modest fee, I immediately got back the 13-14 speed without any restriction.
