Notorised passport translation

I have been told by a friend living here in Turkey that I will need a notorised translation of my passport to give the authorities in Kemer supporting my application for a residency permit. Can anyone out there confirm this to be true (though I have no reason to doubt it) and suggest where I can have this done.
