Deniz Bank SMS Security
« on: September 24, 2008, 05:12:26 PM »
Hi.

Wonder if anybody else has the problem I have.  DB have a security system which sends a code to your mobile when you do a wire transaction which I use for paying bills.  Unfortunately my Turkish mobile does not work in the UK and hence I cannot make payments when there.  I did disable the system, but they have reinstated it.  Has anybody come up with a clever solution to this.  I like the security the system provides.  Just would like to get it to work in the UK and Turkey.

Thanks...Mark

I had the same problem Mark. I emailed them from the UK and they rang me on my mobile to sort out the problem. Temporarily disabled SMS and sent Sifre Tek, which as John says is the answer, via DHL to UK - arrived within 2 days. Total cost 20YTL I believe. Excellent service.

The sifre tek machine is also now required when making transactions using online banking - transfering money to other peoples accounts etc etc.  It works very well and is very easy to use - but just beware that you need it - coz otherwise you won''t be able to make online transfers and will wonder why... :o :o

Hi all - new to this thread. Tonight I tried to set up a payment to another account (not one of mine) at DB but got totally confused. Access to my account info was fairly straight forward then I went to the TAB titled TRANSFERS and seemed to run into deadends when faced with WIRE etc. We don''t have a sifre tek machine and got told that the bank didn''t have our mobile to SMS us when trying another TAB. Also some of the processes seem to require a lot of personal info about the recipient which we also don''t have. Would be grateful for some help here as it was our intention to be able to pay certain bills in Kalkan from the UK via our DB accounts but seem to have fallen at the first hurdle.

Hi KK - first thing - is is you need the Sifre Tek maching - coz without that - you won''t get anywhere..!!  Send an e-mail or fax to hatice at DB and ask to be sent one - we received our''s very quickly via DHL.  Secondly you will need the bank account details of the recipient.  We regularly pay another customer within DB and only need his name and bank details.  You need to select wire - to wire payment and then select ''customer within DB'' - and then you should be able to do it..BUT you have to have this little machine - coz nothing will happen without that first..!!  Sorry!

I hope that helps a bit..??  :o

Hello all,

I want to set up monthly dd''s from my Deniz bank account after paying in money to cover them. Reading this has made me think I might be able to get online banking to do this from UK.  Is this possible and what is the machine for?
Please can someone explain right from setting up in the bank.
