Datca?
« on: February 19, 2009, 07:40:30 PM »
Having got a really good Easy Jet deal for June I booked it pdq! :D

But I haven''t booked any accommodation as yet.  We were thinking of spending a week or so in Datca before heading over Kalkan way.

It''s very hard to glean much info about Datca from the internet - and I wondered if any of you had been there, had any recommendations for hotels & (most important) knew if there were any ATMs there?

The Datca peninsula is well worth a visit.  Great sea scenery and beaches.  Datca town is a decent size with plenty of eating places and ATMs.  We made Marmaris our base and wished we hadn''t.  Too many fast food places and night clubs.

Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Sally

If you''re looking for a bit of luxury in Traditional Turkish style try Mehmet Ali Aga Mansion, it''s brilliant or you can try Marphe Apartments and Villas a little further out of Datca but perhaps a little less expensive.

Trip Advisor should give you reviews, you''ll enjoy Datca and if you''re there on a Sunday go to Cargi Bay (not sure of spelling) where there''s a great family restaurant, buy your own freshly caught tfish at the harbour and they will cook it for you.

Enjoy, Datca''s a great place.

Thank you all for such quick replies.

Can''t find a Datca forum on Trip advisor - does it come under the Marmaris one?

Joan - would I avoid you? Specially as you are the source of all gossip & tonic water :D  Don''t know as yet what we''ll be doing in September.

Sally

You will need to look for reviews of named hotels etc on Trip Advisor as you found there is no Datca forum.

you will find reviews for the Mehmet Ali Aga there, Marphe has it''s own website.

Hope this helps
