I''ve just looked on AccuWeather.com for Kalkan and on Tuesday 29th Jan they forecast SNOW :o is this possible? I would love to know if this really happens.

Well, I''ve just checked the BBC site and apart from showers(rain) on Monday the rest of the week is for sunshine? I know Kalkan has it''s own micro climate, I cannot believe there will be snow in Kalkan, but hey who knows.

Yes they do have snow at times in Kalkan, not very often but they do and some friends of ours took photos of it one year to show us. :)

We woke this morning to a light covering of snow on our garden in Kalkan. The temperature last night fell to 1 degree and this morning it has only risen to 6 but the sunshine is brilliant . Will post the snow pictures later today

Hi Lantana..
I noticed that both Greece and Turkey have been having snow, even in the southern tourist areas. How unusual is snow in Kalkan itself, i am aware that in Islamar it can sometimes snow, i would imagine there would have been heavier falls in the mountains behind Kalkan.

I too heard this morning from my friends in Kalkan that snow fell last night....not sure how much - probably not enough to build a snowman..!! LOL!!! ;D ;D

My father just asked me to check out the BBC news website and watch the videocam of all of the snow in Athens and Turkey and on the Greek Island of Corfu and it''s unbelievable! Kalkan today was colder than the NE of England! Having said that, the forecast is to be 20c by the week-end. A fluke few days I guess.

I watched the Turkish news on TRT (internet) last night, couldn''t believe the scenes of the snow in Antalya,
There was also a broadcast from the zoo in Mersin, the lions and camels were wading around in deep snow !
Quite a few outside broadcasts from Antalya, thick snow and the people were so happy, hadn''t seen snow in 15 years, it was a party atmosphere, even the news reader was grinning from ear to ear, no hat or scarf on etc,
The difference being I suppose is they know they will have a hot summer so they enjoy the snow for the novelty value while it lasts.
