Hi - on searching the forum I noticed some members were having dental implant work with Cenk the dentist in Kalkan. There doesn't seem to be much info in terms of follow up to this. Can anyone advise how it went and what the general costs were. My wife will probably need one tooth implant and is quoted £3k in the UK.

I don't have implants but I have used Cenk for crown replacements and bi-annual cleaning of my teeth. I would say that Cenk's charges are a half or less than what is charged in UK. Go in and ask him, you will be pleasantly surprised, I guarantee it.

I don't have any experience with the dentist...but I do have a dental implant.. It is a full on surgical procedure so you need to know you have the proper support at home. The operation is done to fit the post into your jaw and then you have stitches and a plate over the top of the post. That has to settle over about a 3 month period before the tooth gets fitted, so it's at least 2 additional trips to the dentist, so you need to factor in those costs too.

I have read on a forum somewhere that there is a dental hospital in Fethiye with excellent dental surgeons and this was being recommended over Cenk by a resident. My husband has visited him several times and been happy with the work but it has been much more minor than implants.

I second what Haybo says. I have had two implants done in the UK, at a cost of around £3000 each. Yes, it is a full surgical procedure and you feel a bit rubbish for 2 or 3 days after the insertion of the post. Difficult to eat and you are told not to drink alcohol, as this delays the healing (plus the dentist probably puts you on a precautionary course of antibiotics). Definitely NOT something to combine with a holiday, methinks!

Thanks for the responses. I do understand that it is not something that can be done within the boundaries of a holiday but we do intend to move to Kalkan in not to distant future and it would be interesting to know peoples experiences. It appears Cenk comes well recommended. It may be we'll have to get the current job completed in the UK though.

I could not agree more with Haybo Ive had 4 implants done in the UK. The whole process took nearly a year with lots of appointments in between. what you will save on the implant you will certainly make up in air fares back & forth . Plus if something happens another dentist in the UK will not want to take it on..when I had mine done I needed a bone craft which didn't show on the first head scan.. thank goodness where I had it done had state of the art facilities.
I think with something like this you really need to stick to your UK Dentist, I can recommend one in Kent if that's any good..

Had Cenk do an implant for me last year-no problem. Started procedure in May, post had to be left for 6 months before attaching tooth so had it finished the following May as I didn't want to make an extra trip to Kalkan. Painless procedure, implant has been inspected by my own Dentist in Uk and he says it is fine.

Can also recommend the 'newish' dentist in Kalkan, this name escapes me at this time but both he & his nurse/receptionist speak excellent english & I found him very helpful in explaining my treatment which was a crown. Location, next to The Junction. In my experience both he & Cenk are very good.

My husband had a filling replaced by Cenk in September at a cost of £18.75. He enquired with Cenk about having an implant in the future and Cenk quoted him £750. We have another friend who has just returned to UK yesterday and the main purpose of his holiday was to see Cenk to have all 14 top teeth filed down and crowns fitted (he was in Kalkan in June so had an initial consultation then). The cost for this was £85 per tooth - they look fantastic. Cenk has quoted him £650 for an implant.
