Title: Weather in June
Post by: Beckolars on June 09, 2019, 03:26:11 PM
Hi,

We’re arriving on Friday, and I’ve had a look and the weather forecast looks a bit grim! It’s saying thunderstorms etc.

Is this normal, or could anyone shed any light on what to realistically expect weather-wise?

Thanks in advance!

Don't worry, if we do get a storm they don't normally last for long, expect heavy rain for a while, they can however be very loud. On a brighter side it could bypass us altogether.😄😄

We’re due to arrive on Thursday and have been checking the weather for the past 2 weeks, even though they never seem to be able to predict the forecast more than a day in advance!! The forecasts vary so much.

Check the BBC weather (Fethiye is their nearest location).  Bright sun for the next 19 days.  Much better!  Don’t look at the Tommy Cook website forecast though.  You’ll need your wellies for the same period.

The forecasts are a complete joke. Historically in Kalkan we’ve found Accuweather to be the most reliable. That’s currently showing a slightly mixed picture but still plenty of sun.

Fingers crossed....

Well just for an update, we have had thunder rumbling around the mountains this morning, we have also had some well needed rain. It's very humid at the moment but looks as though it may be a bright evening.

We arrive Wednesday and the forecasts are very different.Tend to think BBC are more reliable. One forecast showed an overnight temperature of -8!!Think you have to take them with a pinch of salt.Quite often the rain and thunder stay behind the mountains.

We were there in June last year and the weather was great. But that also means the olive fruit flies are on the move during the sunny daytimes. A quick spray over yourself should work. They may be tiny black dots but they pack a bite that really itches. Someone told me not to eat olives in May/June as it may be leave a scent on your skin. Think it’s an old wife tale myself as they must enjoy gin too.  Sooner be there than here.
