Title: New Years Eve in Kalkan
Post by: MartynE on December 15, 2011, 10:42:00 AM
Anything happening on New Years Eve, anyone?

We had planned on going to Kaya, but is there anything else going on that we could gatecra..... err come along to? That would be nice as it's our first winter visit and we haven't got a clue what it's going to be like.

Fiona has warned me that there will be serious repercussions if we are stuck in our apartment on New Years Eve with nothing to do. I really don't like the sound of that...

Hi Martyn
Aubergine and the harbour in general is definitely the place to be on NYE in Kalkan, especially if you haven't been before. It's v busy and the atmosphere is amazing, lots of dancing in the street, fireworks, street fires etc. Aubergine hosts the whole outdoors thing and they do it really well - they usually have their usual restaurant and another covered, heated annexe where their outdoor tables are currently. It is Aub's video that you usually see on KTLN on NY Day. Usually all the restaurant owners go there once they have closed for the night. I'm sure you will have a great night wherever you go but you will prob end up at the harbour afterwards anyway. We booked last year but they will probably still squeeze people in.
Have a great time

Got to agree, the harbour is the 'place to be' on new years eve..........not saying its not good at Kayas, Im sure its great there too   8)

As Kalkan Magic says there is loads of street dancing, dj set up, Turkish & English music (more English) fireworks, great food, wood fires burning on the streets, I think they look great considering all the 'elf & safety at home....oh my God a fire in the street, say if someone walks into it I hear ................ they get burnt shouts the waiter !    Love kalkan  8) 8) 8)

Happy Christmas to all.

Hi,
New Years Eve at the Aubergine for the 4 th year in a row. Really good night and seems to get better every year! Will eat in the Kaya, of course, but have to be at the front for a special night!

Won't be there myself for New Year but last year I much enjoyed watching the celebrations by the harbour from the Aubergine webcam.    They seemed to go on until the wee small hours.   Great celebrations.   That webcam had just been installed so I couldn't resist a "little peek" at 10 p.m. here (obviously midnight in Kalkan) and ended up having more quick peeks at my laptop to see how the celebrations were going.

Almost (but not quite) forgot to open our own champagne here in London.    Not going out again this year but will have visitors to see in the New Year.    Am tempted to leave my laptop open so I can see Kalkan celebrating.   In fact our visitors have also been on holiday to Kalkan so they may wish to have a look.

So, all those of you who will be partying down by the harbour - the eyes of tortoise lady may well be upon you!

La Sera on Kalamar Road is another option.  They are laying on a special dinner and lots of dancing and there are also plans to run guests down to the harbour for the fireworks and back for more festivities later.  Drop in to Parc or La Sera itself and ask the team for details.

Not sure, but a few guests that have booked there already have said they wanted to go down to the harbour and see some friends as well as the fireworks there and come back for another dance or two!

May be best to book, just to make sure.  Hope to be there at some point that evening/morning.
