Hi Kevin. Lots of restaurants open now. We’re hoping for early September and middle October. Fingers crossed they let us in.

Good to see some activity on the forum again!

We have re-re-re-booked Kalkan for late September this year, fingers crossed that everything will be safe and we are able to travel.

The Kalkan webcams suggest that there are visitors to Kalkan, anyone know which restaurants and bars are open?

It seems Kalkan is bursting with visitors from Russia, Germany and of course Turkish. Just hope they are following all the rules :( also lots of sales of villas.

Hi Sheila. I have sent you an email. Think there is little to no interest in this forum now. Shame. There was a lot of nice people.

Just discovered the Forum is back.   Hurray!

We have not managed to get out to our  villa in Kalkan since last September when there was a brief corridor with Turkey.   Frustrating, especially as we have been having renovation work taking place and not been able to see progress.

We started last year with a pretty full calendar of guests and of course almost no-one able to go.   This year we again started with the diary almost full and so far no-one has been able to go.

We are now beginning to fill up the 2022 calendar and just hoping we really will have some guests and that we will be able to return to having our own normal visits to Kalkan.

Such a pity for the local people although I gather more Turkish people are going to Kalkan now, plus some nationalities where travel to Turkey has been permitted

Have a thought for those Turkish people who live here or others, stranded here in the UK but have family or live in Turkey and not able to get back, we have a Turkish friend living here who has elderly parents and close family unable to visit since early 2020. Very frustrating/concerning for them.

Better to be safe .

Sad times indeed for the people of Turkey, particularly Kalkan. I think we will be extremely lucky to get there this year, looks like another year of people switching dates again.

Yes I’m pretty sure Turkey will be in the red list on the 17th but hopefully it will go to green in September on if they can control the virus. I’ve already noticed villas that we have used in the past that had carried customers over from last year are starting to move again when looking at availability. Hope this is not going to be a repeat of last year for the villa owners and people of kalkan. Fingers crossed for all of us.

Turkey is in the middle of a strict curfew at this time due to end 17th May. this is due to the increased high covid numbers all over the country. There are also many Turkish city residents reported to be heading for places such as Kalkan for holidays during this time to avoid being stuck in the cities  and it is Ramazan then Eid, which is cause for concern for the Government and security checks are being made on any law breakers. However the Turkish Government are now saying that they will be opening for tourists and accepting flights in, obviously they are wanting the tourists in.   There have been reported cases of the virus in areas very close to Kalkan including Kas.

It seems that Turkey may well be RED LISTED by the UK government when the final decisions are made so best check.
