1st visit on a budget
« on: September 19, 2011, 07:25:42 PM »
We are counting down to our 1st visit in 4 weeks time but we are on a fairly tight budget. Looking for suggestions of where to eat.

There are plenty of places that are reasonably cheap, my recommendation would be Merkez
 ;)
I'll get me coat!! ;-).....Bang on!

You can eat really well on a tight budget ;D
Try Fener at the harbour(Lighthouse Cafe) Cafe Leon, Oz Adana, Fotos Pizza, Hunklar(?) Kebab (next door to Corner), Kalkan Cafe Fast Food (opposite Corner), White Table and, if you're self catering, your own place for the odd night.
Enjoy  ;D

Great recommendations from the others - would agree with them all and would be hard picked to choose a favourite.
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Hi, prices definitely seem to get higher as you get closer to the Harbour front. Depends what you would call expensive really. If I recall Pisces was good value, my main dish being around 25 TL. Good steaks at the "better" restaurants were around 35 TL, though some places charged extra for Aubergine mash etc (Coast?)
Enjoy your trip

Eat at Coast the other night, 6 of us, starters, mains, deserts (4), lots & lots of drink, wine (red &white), really cant remember how many bottles (had a sore head in the morning !), beers, a double cheese board, 3 irish coffees, comp cocktail each.....500tl.....£30 per head, fantastic value as far as im concerned ?   The jazz was proper good as well.  Always a fav of ours.   8)   Also eat at Salt & Pepper.... 1st class. Also eat at Saffron (above Moonlight) again, fantastic food, wine/beer, service etc, £21 per head. Another night we went to Parc Kalkan, great value, and very good food,  all six just had main meals, but drunk there all night, £17 per head, made even better watching United spank leeds  >:D   eat in on 2 nights, BBQ one night, very nice indeed, and egg chips (from Cafe Vita) and ham on the other all washed down with lashings of Angora (11tl a bottle from supermarket)  Had lunch at the gorge sat with feet in the ice cold river.....a must do, great afternoon. Also had lunch at Fener Bar £6 per head, hard to beat, great food and service and wow, the location !   Alibabas on another lunch time, water and soft drinks, as much bread as you can eat, 9 dishes and comp coffees, £5.80 per head, love it in there   8)   So 6 lads had a great time, great weather (hot every day) all  shared with the lovely people of Kalkan  :-*   So you can eat on the harbour or...egg and chips at home, thats the choice in Kalkan  ;).  We did eat out on another night but I just cant remember  8)
Latest weather report...... Large outbreaks of Efes followed by intermitent spells of vodka and tonic ;-))

Chillies and definitely Oz Adana. At the latter don't order too much food - even though it is very cheap - because the freebie appetisers constitute a meal in their own right!
