Birthday
« on: May 31, 2016, 12:03:52 PM »
Whilst we are in Kalkan it will be my wife's birthday. I have several questions
1 Can I get a birthday Cake in Kalkan?
2 Can someone recommend a good restaurant for 6 people to celebrate?
3 And a long shot does the Pandora shop stock the Turkish eye? Last year we had to order but they never arrived in time

Thankyou in anticipation

Most restaurants  would provide a cake if you ask them. I am always in Kalkan for my birthday and have had a cake everytime :).

Sadly this year, no Kalkan so no cake :( :(

Hi David and welcome to the forum.

Good choice to celebrate your wife's birthday in Kalkan.

As Barb says - I'm sure almost all restaurants will provide a cake if you mention this while booking. They will sometimes light fireworks and sing as well! I've had one official birthday in Kalkan before and quite a few unofficial ones too (only by a few days or maybe a month  :o ::) ;D) but that's another story. My advice would be to have  a wander before the event, pick a restaurant you like the look of and ask about what they can do for you in regards to the birthday girl.

If you want to buy a cake separately from the restaurant birthday meal, have a look in the various patisseries that are in Kalkan and ask there for prices etc. From memory I can think of Nur and Ada but there are others. If you check out KTLN on the business directory, you will find details of shops and directions/addresses.

I'm sorry I don't know re Turkish eye Pandora charms, but if you perhaps email the jewellers (again by using KTLN business directory) you will hopefullly find out.

We've had a few birthday celebrations in Kalkan.......Sade is a jolly choice......singing, fireworks and a birthday dessert provided. Later this year we'll be celebrating a big one for my OH so will be interested to see if he chooses Sade again!

I had my birthday in Samphire last year, they were very good and I got the full 'sparkler' treatment. They also provided a lovely cake, but Turkish tradition is to share it with ALL the other guests in the restaurant!

Hi David, we run the new Old Town Hotel & Cafe in Kalkan, it's near Salonika, Iso's Kitchen & Botanik bar. We specialise in coffee & home-made cakes and would be happy to provide a cake for your wife's birthday if you wanted one to have at home. We can do pretty much whatever style & flavour you'd like - have a look at our Facebook page to see some of the cakes we've been selling over the past 2 months. Have a great holiday!

Welcome to the forum, david stokes. You can contact Pandora's official website to find out what the store stocks. Only Lycian Jewellry is an official stockist, although you will see Pandora charms for sale throughout the village.I don't think Pandora do a Turkish eye charm but check with them direct and they will let you know. So long as you are aware and the price is right, it's entirely your choice if you want to buy a "copy".
We've had a cake from Nur Patisserie in the past which was delicious and last year we noticed the bakery, up by Yali supermarket had magnificent examples.
As everyone has said, if you tell the restaurant they will usually provide one and make a huge fuss.
Have a great stay :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

I would have thought that just about any restaurant would celebrate a birthday, especially if given advance notice - they don't seem to need much prompting!

In effect, go to the one that suits you - we all have our favourites and not quite so favourites - so choose the one that suits you, and let them know.

Cakes?  Never touch them…

Pandora?  That's someone's Box isn't it?
