Loud trashy dance music tonight (16 June)
« on: June 16, 2015, 08:36:15 PM »
What is it wth the loud crappy dance music tonight?

This isn't what we come to Kalkan for? We could have gone to other places for this.

We pay a fortune for a lovely villa and get this at 22:30.

Could put us off coming again which would be a massive shame.

We are not old farts, we just want a holiday in peace.

Not sure. We were on the terrace of our villa near Asfyia Sea View hotel and we could hear it clearly.  It seemed to be from the direction of the searchlights.

I can only suggest that you inform the owners of the villa you are renting. They should be able to find out where it's coming from and maybe put a stop to it.

Good luck.

Yes it's Patara Prince.  Have clear view from my rooftop terrace & unfortunately hearing (I'm just above the Asfiya villas) and heard someone say searchlights on opening night Tuesday for new nightclub.  They had a disco there once a week donkey years ago but don't think sound got outside the building.  You could also see the internal flashing multi-coloured lights & last night was all bar the searchlights.  You certainly hear it more than the town clubs though like a lot, guess it depends on your relative position.

Tuesday I needed earplugs to settle to sleep but last night it was either less loud or I was more tired, went straight off.  Mind you I had more problem with the concert on the harbour, which went on pretty late I thought & had to shut the window !  Earplugs nowhere enough to drown that out.

Are Belediye doing much enforcement of late night noise/music rules ?

The jandarma will stop an acoustic guitarist and singer playing on the dot of midnight, because live music is bad, but turn a blind eye (or deaf ear) to loud disco music all night long. It's ridiculous.

Noise levels at Patara Prince seem to be upsetting many people, and complaints are now on Trip Advisor, KTLN, and Facebook as well as EK forum. Reported excuses from the Jandarma seem to range from 'they have been granted a licence for this' to 'we don't have the necessary equipment to measure decibels so cannot quantify the problem'. It seems unacceptable and unfair to me that so many people have to suffer for the enjoyment of just a few. Then people wonder why the town is quieter this year and bookings are down for some. From a reputation-management point of view, whether it is building work or noise pollution, very little seems to be being done to control, regulate, monitor or police the holiday environment. Are any forum members currently out at Patara Prince who can shed any more light on the reason for this loud music?

I understand that this is happening every night. I've been reliably informed that that as many people as possible need to call 181 to complain - this is the number for the Antalya Environmental Health Department apparently (not sure if they speak English though). I'm told that if they get enough complaints, they'll have to come out to assess the noise and then they can put a stop to it permanently. Fingers crossed!

There used to be similar problems with the Xanthos Hotel in Kalamar

Antalya Environmental Health were informed but apparently before they visit any premises they have to inform the Zabita and the Jandarma

Strangely the night they appeared there was no noise at all !!

Anyone like to maybe guess a reason ???

Would the same happen at Patara Price - must be even worse if you are staying or have a property there

For what it's worth, complaints about the noise at Patara Prince have started to show in their Trip Advisor reviews. If they get a deluge of poor reviews by both guests and non-residents, their ratings will plummet and the manager is going to have to do something about it.

Also for what it's worth I have been to the Jandarme today with David from KTLM and he also took me with him to speak to the managers at the Patara prince who have said that at 10.30 they will close the doors and turn music down and also turn down more at 12.00.
We will see.
Unfortunately writing on these forums does not get anything done, we need to speak to the Jandarme or the mayors office.
We are here with olive tree travel this year and they are getting all there clients to sign a letter which will be handed to the mayors office.
The more people that complain the better.

We have friends here at the moment - their first time in Kalkan. They, like many people, love Kalkan, but unfortunately, they've had their evenings spoilt by the terrible noise at night coming from this place. They are staying at Likya, in accommodation directly opposite. Evenings on their terrace have been spent listening to the thump, thump, thump of whatever rubbish they're blaring out across there. We are staying in the Kalkan Suites and the searchlights are just ridiculous.
