hot enough late September?
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:10:34 PM »
Hi Everyone,

We are coming to Kalkan for the first time ever later this year and the villa I am looking at is only available from 22nd Sept onwards. My husband and I are Aussies who have fled the Australian heat to live in Scotland so we don''t like it enormously hot anyway, however we DO want to swim and swim and have lots of sunshine - we have enough of clouds in Scotland! Is the 22nd Sept for 10 days still hot, or shall we look for a villa with availability earlier in September? Thank you

    hi Jules,
believe me that is just the best time for Kalkan. It is still hot till the mids of November (34-37C), however, from the end of September it doesn''t get as humid as it does in july and august. Therefore, you will have a hot but fresh weather when you are here. Another good thing is that sept. and oct. is the warmest time of sea water, so, I bet you wont be able to get out of the sea  ;D hope (actually am sure) you enjoy your time here...

It will be lovely, we have been late Oct and the days have been warm enough to sunbathe, and sea warm enough to swim, evenings were cooling down so you will be fine, early September could still be very hot.

Yep - not much to add other to confirm that the weather is glorious and warm without the heat and humidity of July and August and the sea temperatures are lovely too!!

Enjoy!!

I have been there in late September and October and I think it is a beautiful time of the year.  I was there the whole of Sep 2007.  We had two weeks of real heat and then a few days of wind then lovely balmy weather.  The windy days really chilled down our pool such that we did not really use it much for the last two weeks.  However, the sea keeps its heat really well so this was no real problem.

Brilliant! Thanks everyone - that sounds really great. Colin, the website was brilliant. We are used to the always cold Indian Ocean so a warm sea really helps, plus we won''t fry in the days. Now I just need to hop on to the accommodation forums because as a newbie it''s very hard to know where the heck all these villas are and how far a walk each one is. You are all very helpful
